How I check facts
A travel guide is only as good as its facts. Here is where mine come from.
Distances and driving times
They are calculated on OpenStreetMap, from central Bari to the centre of each destination, using the OpenStreetMap community routing service. They assume no traffic, so allow a few extra minutes in summer and at rush hour.
Trains and connections
They come from the official operators: Trenitalia, Ferrovie del Sud Est, Ferrovie Appulo Lucane and Ferrotramviaria. The times I give are indicative ranges, because they vary from train to train. Before you travel, always check the timetable for that day on the operator’s website.
Prices and opening hours
They change often, so I give them only when I have checked them against an official source. Otherwise I link to the source rather than quote a number that may be outdated.
Check dates
Every page shows when its facts were last checked. Pages are reviewed regularly, and straight away when something changes: new timetables, engineering works, closures.
Images
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, always credited with author and licence. I don’t use computer-generated images passed off as real photos.
